DOMESTIC violence-related assaults are on the rise across Gunnedah, Liverpool Plains, and Narrabri shires, according to new crime figures.

The three shires all saw a rise in domestic violence in the 12 months to June 2020, new Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) figures have revealed.
Gunnedah shire had 98 incidents reported during this time, compared to 60 in the 12 months to 2019.
The Liverpool Plains shire jumped from 38 incidents in 2019, to 63 incidents in the same period to June 2020.
Narrabri went from 82 to 94 incidents.

There were downward trends in other crime sectors, though.
Break-ins to homes and thefts from cars were all down in the 12 months to June this year.
Gunnedah had a drastic drop in break and enters, with 64 in the 12 months to June 2020, compared to 116 the year before. There was 71 thefts from cars, and 116 in the 12 months to June 2019.
Liverpool Plains dropped from 30 thefts from cars to 16, and from 33 break-ins to homes to 24 in the 12 months to June 2020.
Narrabri had 80 break-ins in the 12 months to June 2020, down from 106. There were also 52 thefts from cars, down from 76.
Gunnedah did have a small rise in malicious damage to property, though, moving from 185 incidents in the 12 months to June 2019 to 189 incidents in the 12 months after.
Malicious damage to property dropped in the other two shires.
Liverpool Plains went from 82 incidents to 68, and Narrabri went from 120 to 114.
