The lowest temperature on Wednesday was -3 degrees at 4.30am, recorded by the Bureau of Meterology (BoM) at the Gunnedah airport. The mercury is slow to climb back up, though - it was only 10.5 degrees at 10am and a maximum of only 17 degrees is forecast for the day.
On Tuesday, the lowest temperature was -2.3 degrees at 4am and the day only warmed up to 14.5 degrees before the temperature plummeted again overnight.
BoM is forecasting -2 degrees for Thursday morning and a maximum of 19. Minimums of between 2 and 4 degrees are expected over the weekend and the maximum will hover just over 20 degrees. The forecast for early next week is consistent maximums of 23 degrees.
