However, amid this more positive news after two days of slightly higher numbers, there has been one more death due to the coronavirus.

NSW Health said a woman in her 80s who had COVID-19 died on Wednesday, taking the state's toll to 53.

Her infection was linked to the Our Lady of Lebanon cluster, the department said, passing its condolences to her family, friends and the Our Lady of Lebanon community.

NSW Health also reported that four of the new locally acquired cases were linked to existing cases, and three had not been linked to a known source.

NSW Health advised that a previously reported case linked to Our Lady of Mercy College attended two venues in South-Western Sydney whilst infectious with COVID-19.

Patrons and staff at Westfield Liverpool and the 5th Avenue Beauty Bar in Wetherill Park  are considered to be casual contacts and advised to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. They should immediately self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19 should symptoms develop, however mild.

There are currently 135 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health.

Seven patients are in intensive care and six are ventilated, while 89 per cent of cases being treated are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.

Meantime in Victoria, there have been 278 new cases of coronavirus and another eight deaths overnight.
