The lowest temperature was recorded at Gunnedah airport at 6am: a brisk -5 degrees. The mercury slowly crawled up to 0.5 degrees by 8am.
The maximum temperature for the day is 16 degrees.

Friday morning will be warmer by far - BOM has forecast a minimum of three degrees as rain develops. There is a 95 per cent chance of between 10 and 20 mm from late morning, and the chance of a severe thunderstorm. There may be rain again on Saturday.
