In need of the facial coverings for its essential service employees, it is seeking expressions of interest from local businesses so they can "continue to deliver local government work as normal".
The specifications required, the tender states, is that they are "sustainable, reusable facemasks".
A Gunnedah Shire Council spokesperson said the masks are being sought for customer service, pool and library staff as well as those working for the waste management facility.

The successful applicant will be chosen based on price, sample product, supply times and locality.
It comes after the NSW Government released new recommendations that customer-facing staff should wear the personal protective equipment.
Council says this is a "preemptive measure", with the potential for a further order in the situation digresses further.
"Extra supplies may be sought should the COVID-19 situation escalate," the tender reads.

In the tender, general manager Eric Groth makes the point of saying the council would not be bound to accept the lowest or any quotation, and that "canvassing of councillors or council staff will disqualify prospective suppliers".
