Matt Davis is a man who seems to be very comfortable in his lane in life. And as such, change - especially big change - is not something he encounters often.

The 37-year-old grew up in Gunnedah, went to St Mary's College, where he met and fell for his wife, Lisa, joined Gunnedah United at age 16 and then he and Lisa enrolled at the University of Newcastle.

Upon graduation - he with an architecture degree and her with a business degree - they returned to Gunnedah and started an architectural business, the excellently named Art Plus Science.
Davis rejoined Gunnedah United, as the couple built their business into a going concern and built a family: Noah, 13, Ally, 12, Quinn, 10, and Luca, 7.
When United and the Gunnedah and District Soccer Association merged to form Gunnedah FC, Davis was there.
In fact, he has been there longer than any of his current Gunnedah FC Premier Division teammates - and his children play, or have played, for Gunnedah.
Even the biggest change in Davis's life in some time - his reasonably recent career shift to the real estate industry - has been a "good fit" for him (most of his architectural work has been in residential.)
"We had a really good run in the [architectural] business," he said. "We had a lot of activity going on with the mining activity we have here at the moment: there's a lot of development happening.
"And real estate is the same, in essence ... with everything that's been going on with COVID-19, we've been really resilient in terms of our property industry in town. It's quite a good industry."
(Davis still does the "odd job" through Art Plus Science.)
He and his wife were lured back to Gunnedah by what he called the town's "great sense of community". He is embraced by the same atmosphere at Gunnedah FC, whom he is confident will break their Premier Division duck when they meet South United at home on Saturday.
"And I expect us to go on the trot now and win a few games in a row, for sure."
