Her new single, It All Falls Down, was released over the weekend and already has more than 1000 clicks.
"One thing that has always held me back is the fear of releasing new music and no one ever listening to it ... [so] I'm blown away and thrilled beyond belief," Burgoyne said.
"Being a little independent artist with a small team and not a lot of money it's going to be a slow game, building listeners one at a time. But I've never been afraid of rolling up my sleeves.
"I also believe this opens up such a great opportunity for building stronger bonds with my supporters. I get the chance to know them by name, where they come from and share the journey with them."
One thing that has always held me back is the fear of releasing new music and no one ever listening to it.
- Katrina Burgoyne
Burgoyne said she co-wrote the new recording with fellow artist Jordan Brooker in 2015.
"Our intentions for this song were to have a male sing it as the song is a little too "seductive" for a women to be saying those things and still being perceived as classy, with lyrics like 'I'm holding my breath, kiss your neck, touching your chest, losing my dress'. However, I started playing it at shows and using the demo of this song to promote events in videos and sure enough, my supporters started requesting [it]," she said.
"After so much time singing this song live and finally recording it, I think as a women it makes me feel so empowered. With so many songs on the radio with edgy, sexual lyrics sung by men, I am excited to sing this one for women.
"Who says you can't be confident and classy and seductive all in one?"
As COVID continues to bite, Burgoyne has been busy working on a full record with her producer and boyfriend, Steve Kinney.
"We are going to start by releasing singles. Lots of singles. Our next song, 25 Cents In The Ashtray, should come out in about 12 weeks," Burgoyne said.
"I feel like the songs lined up will just keep getting better. I have so many stories to share - moving from Gunnedah to the USA, to being broke, to wanting to give up, my Aussie frankness and perspective in a different country, to finding my person and finding peace.
"I love this record. It's so damn good. I say this knowing full well I sound like I'm turning into a very confident American, but honestly, real sweat, tears, years and over 1000 songs since my last release went into this and I'm proud as punch.
"I hope my hometown will get behind it and come along for the ride."
