A 10-YEAR-OLD girl has been killed and another teenager is in custody on Wednesday night after a horror school holiday tragedy in Gunnedah.

The girl was arrested at a family farm in Gunnedah on Wednesday morning shortly after the young girl died.
The State Crime Command's homicide squad was notified of the child's death, and Oxley detectives spent much of the day trying to piece together what happened.
A triple zero call alerted emergency services at about 7.15am.
Police and paramedics rushed to the home after reports a young girl had been seriously injured.
Emergency services tried desperately to revive the young girl but she died at the scene.
Police confirmed the girl had suffered serious lacerations.
Shortly after, a teenage girl who is believed to be related to the younger girl, was arrested by Oxley police.
She was taken to Gunnedah police station for questioning. She is still in police custody on Wednesday night. No charges have been laid.
Some of the details surrounding the investigation cannot be reported for legal reasons.
A crime scene was set up at the property, on the outskirts of town, which was cordoned off by Oxley police.
Officers manned the gate to the property, and forensic officers combed the home as part of the investigation.
Police are remaining tight-lipped on the incident, but investigations are continuing.
It's sent shockwaves through the Gunnedah community. It's understood the victim was visiting Gunnedah from the Central West area for the school holidays.
A spokesperson for Gunnedah Shire Council said the family needed privacy at this difficult time.
"It is with great sadness we're hearing breaking news about the tragedy that has occurred in Gunnedah earlier today," the spokesperson said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
"At this difficult time, we ask that you respect the privacy of the family and friends of those involved.
"We are a strong and tight-knit community and together we will support the family and our community through this event.
