DOG lovers are being urged by police to use caution when purchasing dogs online after a reports of fraudulent puppy sales in Tamworth.
Oxley Police District officers are investigating reports of fraudulent sales of Cavoodle puppies, which are listing puppies for sale on a fake websites such as The Cavoodle Land.
Oxley police issued a scam alert on Thursday warning locals to be wary of the puppy frauds.
Police are urging people to look out for websites displaying Cavoodle puppies, which have inconsistent backgrounds, numerous different colours and ages of puppies.
The websites are continually changing names, Oxley police said.
A number of people have reported that after transferring money for the purchase of a puppy, the puppy never arrives or they are given a bogus address in Tamworth NSW to collect the puppy.
Police are urging anybody considering purchasing puppies online to make their own further checks as to the existence and validity of the puppy before parting with any money.
Anyone who has been the victim of fraud is urged to report it to their local police station or to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
