In a vote conducted by rugby website RUGBY.com.au, the Reds No.8 was a runaway winner for the title.

After naming their Team of the Year so far, based on the most Teams of the Week entries per position, they then put it to the public to vote on who they believe has been the best player through the first seven rounds.

In the two day voting period Wilson, picked up a massive 55 per cent of the votes. Brumbies fullback Tom Banks was the next best on 14 per cent.

It's the latest in a long list of acknowledgements for the 20-year old in his rookie Super Rugby season.

Crusaders coach Scott Robertson recently professed his love for the backrower, who leads the competition in carries, and is second for offloads.

He is even being touted as a potential Wallabies bolter.

But Wilson isn't taking too much notice of all that.

"It's always nice reading that stuff but it doesn't fuss me at all because I just know that if I don't perform well it's not going to happen," he told The Namoi Valley Independent.

Right now too it is really the furthest thing from his mind.

At the moment he doesn't know when he's going to play his next game with the competition suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Last Friday the proposed domestic competition was given the green light, offering a glimmer of hope for players and rugby fans, but by the end of the weekend it was put on hold.

Slated to begin on April 3, it won't kick-off until at least May 1 now, if at all.

"I know whenever I do get the opportunity to play for the Reds, I'm just wanting to go out there and perform for them. And then if I guess I play well then some opportunities might come up," Wilson said.

"But that's definitely not the first thing I'm worrying about it, that's for sure."

He is currently rehabbing a medial ligament injury he picked up in the final round, but isn't looking at an extended time on the sidelines.
