The body said the decision was made after discussions between NIAS staff, other sporting academies across NSW, sport governing bodies and the University of New England.
The move affects the following events:

The UNE life skills education weekend (March 21-22) - postponed.
The netball high-performance camp (March 21-22) - postponed.
Rugby league trials (March 21) - postponed.
Local Club Academy Games - cancelled.
Squad training sessions from now until at least Easter (applies to all NIAS squads) - cancelled.
"We understand the inconveniences this may cause," NIAS said in a statement. "However, the health of our athletes, their families and the wider community is very important to us. We will be revising the above [information] on April 27.
"Until this review occurs, we are currently working towards providing valuable alternative methods of delivery for squad training sessions to align with limiting social contact as suggested by the government."
This will include using online tools such as education information and online learning activities.
It will also include delivering or updating strength and conditioning programs, and potential additional content from the state governing body for individual sports.
NIAS said it would provide updates "as soon as we can keep you informed". "We appreciate your cooperation during this time and welcome any questions," it added.
