Lynda Baker, 46, appeared in Gunnedah Local Court for the first time since she was charged by police in February.
Baker, who lives in Cameron Park, near Newcastle, is facing one count of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
During the court proceedings, magistrate Peter Thompson ordered police to compile a brief of evidence into the case and serve it on Baker's defence solicitor at the Aboriginal Legal Service.

Mr Thompson adjourned the case to April and continued Baker's bail.
Police will allege Baker dishonestly obtained about $124,000 from a Gunnedah family member.
Between February 2017 and October 2018, police claim the 46-year-old woman was given power of attorney over the 84-year-old man's financial affairs.
During this time, Oxley investigators allege the woman transferred funds from the man's account into her own account and used the money for personal use.
Police were alerted in Gunnedah and launched an investigation. Following inquiries, police arrested Baker at Newcastle Police Station in early February.
She has been on conditional bail since her arrest.
