Mr Boxsell said he didn't even know he was nominated for the award by Boggabri Home and Community Care (HACC) until his name was called at the presentation.
"When I got up there, a person who I know up there said 'Congratulations, you've been nominated'. I said, 'Have I?'. I didn't know until I got up there, that I'd been nominated," he said.
Mr Boxsell said it was "a nice surprise" and he likes to keep active.
Fellow Lions member Dave Sawtell received the Lions Senior of the Year award in HACC's new function rooms. Mr Boxsell received the award in 2018.
HACC's seniors had a busy week, attending a morning tea, watching Little Women at the cinema and learning about walking and driver safety from Roads and Maritime Services.
They also attended the Narrabri council awards to support Mr Boxsell.
Before lunch, they were entertained by preschool children, heard from Robyn Russell on falls and prevention, and listened to Max Pringle read some poetry.
Seniors also participated in a "making memories workshop" at HACC hosted by the Narrabri Arts & Crafts.
Healthwise Narrabri also carried out free health checks.
