The state government announced on Wednesday afternoon that 56 local government areas will have funding made available to help people and businesses after recent storms and flash flooding.

But while important infrastructure was destroyed in Werris Creek after intense rainfall, and homes in Wallabadah were flooded, the LPSC will not receive help under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Narrabri and Tamworth are included on the list of recipients, which means residents whose homes or belongings were damaged and essential public assets that were damaged could be covered.

Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations, freight subsidies for primary producers, and grants to eligible non-profit organisations are also included under the DRFA.

Emergency Services Minister David Elliott said the assistance would help many families and businesses that were hit by storms.

"Sadly, some of these areas were still recovering from recent bushfires and have been dealt another blow by this additional natural disaster," Mr Elliott said.

"The assistance being announced today will help cover the costs associated with the operational response and repairing damaged essential public assets, such as roads."
