More than 100mm has fallen in the small town since Friday, causing Werries Creek to once again flood the Gap, Henry Street causeway, and the back Werris Creek Road.
Motorists travelling through to Gunnedah and further afield have to take a detour via Taylors Lane to link them back up to the Kamilaroi Highway.
Gap Road was opened temporarily on Tuesday afternoon but was closed again that night after another thunderstorm, and remained closed.
The road will be assessed on Thursday by Liverpool Plains Shire Council staff.
More rain has been recorded in Werris Creek in 2020 than all of 2019.
