GoCo was successful in securing a space in the East Tamworth Medical Centre and staff will move across in the next 4-6 weeks.

GoCo's growth and marketing leader Natasha Beer said the premises was being fitted out and will give clients better access and make the service more visible.

The decision to move from Darling Street into the medical centre is strategic because it will mean the service is in close proximity to health-related services.

Ms Beer said GoCo wanted to "improve the experience" for clients and said there were "lots of opportunities around Tamworth".

GoCo originally started out in Gunnedah but now covers five local government areas encompassing Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Moree and the Liverpool Plains. Offices are based in Narrabri, Tamworth, Kootingal, Barraba and Gunnedah.

The council decided to expand into the Tamworth region in early 2017, acquiring Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) Home and Community Care Services (HACC).

The transition involved the transfer of TRC's Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) funded aged-care services and New England Carer Support Service, which provides counselling, support, information and advocacy services (CSIA) for carers.

The agreement included the retention of service hubs in Barraba, Kootingal, Nundle and Tamworth.

The Tamworth move will be funded by Gunnedah Shire Council after councillors voted to allocate $150,000 to support GoCo's growth in a recent meeting.

Gunnedah councillor Owen Hasler was chair of the original GoCo committee and said it was "pleasing" to back the service's growth.

"The services we're supplying are needed by those communities and having an office in Tamworth enables us to take on a more regional focus," he said.

"Compliments to the staff that they've identified needs and have targeted those clients who we can facilitate.

"I think feedback appears to be very positive in that region so I'm very optimistic, along with my fellow councillors, that it will be a successful transfer and likely to see even more growth as a result."
