Liverpool Plains Shire Council is holding plenty of activities from February 12-23 for seniors to celebrate their special place in the community.
Events will be organised and coordinated by the council's Home Support Service (HSS) team as well as Plains Fitness, Werris Creek and Quirindi libraries and the Royal Theatre.

LPSC mayor Andrew Hope said seniors made up 44 per cent of the shire's population, which highlighted their place in the community.
He encouraged seniors to get out and enjoy the various events being staged in their honour and for their enjoyment.
The official opening event will take place on Thursday, February 13 from 9.30am at the Royal Theatre with a morning tea, followed by a foot-stomping, hand-clapping celebration of the swinging sixties with the stage show What's New Pussycat.
The event will provide a chance to meet new people, make new friends, as well as catching up with old friends. All seniors are invited and welcome to attend. Tickets are $5 and must be booked in advance through Quirindi HSS via 6746 4545 or Werris Creek HSS via 6768 7505. A free bus will depart Werris Creek at 9.15am. Locals from other areas, please advise if transport is required.
There's plenty more happening, too.
- Monday, February 17 at 9.30am - Little Women (G), will be staged at the Royal Theatre. Come along and enjoy a relaxed morning tea followed by the movie. A bus will depart Werris Creek Hospital at 9am. Tickets $5, book in advance via the HSS offices.
- Tuesday, February 18 at 10am - Free Tech Connect for seniors at Werris Creek Library. Learn to use your iPad or mobile phone and update your skills with a one on one 30-minute session. Call into the library or phone 6768 7340 to reserve your spot.
- Tuesday, February 18 at 11.30am - Free Heartmoves class at Plains Fitness, Station Street Quirindi. Join in and get your heart moving in this low-impact exercise program. The session will be followed with a healthy morning tea. All abilities welcome. Please contact a HSS office to indicate intention to attend for catering purposes.
- Wednesday, February 19 at 10am Quirindi Library - Free morning tea plus a fun trivia morning filled with interesting facts and prizes. To assist with catering please contact the library on 6746 2350 to advise of intention to attend.
- Friday, February 21 at 9.15am - 'What's for lunch?' mystery trip. Tickets $30. Bus from Willow Tree departing the VIC at 9.15am, Quirindi depart Railway Square at 9.30am and Werris Creek from the Post Office at 9.45am. To book tickets contact your nearest HSS office. Also call the office if you are from Currabubula, Wallabadah or any other areas in the shire and require transport.
A raffle has also been arranged with numerous prizes up for grabs. These can be purchased from the HSS offices or the council's administration centre. They will also be available at each of the festival events. Prizes will be drawn on the mystery lunch tour.
All booking forms for events need to be completed and given to Quirindi or Werris Creek HSS or the LPSC administration centre.
