Held at the Royal Theatre Quirindi, Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) mayor Andrew Hope welcomed guests to the event, the Welcome to Country was presented by Jason Allen and Australia Day ambassador John Harper presented the Australia Day address.
Quirindi High School student Molly Owen also led the National Anthem.

"Congratulations to all those nominated for the Australia Day awards. The nominations are made by community members to recognise the efforts and achievements of people who contribute to making the shire fabric better and stronger," Cr Hope said.
"Every person who is nominated is a winner and on behalf of all shire residents I'd like to say thank you for your efforts and enriching our community."
The 2020 Australia Day award winners are as follows:
- Citizen of the Year - Sandra 'Ming' Thompson
- Young Citizen of the Year - presented jointly to Molly Owen and Joshua Redgrove
- Marie Maunder Community Service - Tammie Clark
- Local Legend - Adrienne Ranken
- Emergency Services Community Award - Robin Miller
- Sportsperson of the Year - Dylan Smith
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year - Olivia Cowan
