The Killarney Gap Road remains closed between Narrabri and Bingara for back-burning. It is unknown when the road will reopen at this stage.
Landowners in the area are still only allowed through, with all other traffic diverted via Moree.
More updates will be provided by Narrabri Shire Council in time.
Back-burning operations means the Killarney Gap Road will be closed until about 8am on Wednesday.
This was put in place to control multiple fires in the Mount Waa area.
It comes after local fire crews had a busy weekend battling a fire around-the-clock near Coonabarabran.
Luckily, crews managed to take control of the fire on Monday morning, bringing it back down to advice level.
Castlereagh Rural Fire Service district officer Dez White said on Monday there was now a "lot of mopping up to do".
