Many locals were out on Thursday having a splash in the pool, kids enjoyed the wet area, and parents took advantage of free entry for little ones.
Gunnedah Shire Council decided to waive the fees for children aged 2-16 for the entire month of January to provide some "much-needed relief" in the school holidays. The fee waiver is thanks to the NSW Regional School Holiday Activities Grant Program.

It comes after the pool was closed for two months of the summer pool season due to a leak. This was first detected in August and was traced to the movement joint.
About 1.5ML of water was drained in mid-September so the area could be examined, and then the remainder was emptied.
The contractor doing the repairs, Metz, first examined the leak in mid-October.
The 25m pool, the kids' wet area and the playground are still open for use, and the Splash Poolside kiosk, operated by Gunida Gunya Aboriginal Corporation, is open.
Swimming carnivals that were scheduled for late 2019 were rescheduled for early 2020, and any season passes that were sold were readjusted for the time frame.
Narrabri Shire Council also recently decided to waive pool entry fees at its three pools, including Boggabri, until February.
