Andre Steele and Amelia Lush flew the flag at Sydney Olympic Park pool to contest the prestigious NSW Championships with both gaining valuable experience at this level.
With strict qualifying times, it is a great achievement to even qualify.
Steele competed in the 50m freestyle. He entered ranked 31st and finished a creditable 19th place in a large field of the state's best young swimmers.
The rising young star powered to the wall in a personal best time of 25.73 seconds, shaving .61 from his best.
Lush also attacked the 50m freestyle, pushing herself to equal her entry time.
The teens had been at a disadvantage with the 50m pool out of action and the whole squad is looking forward to getting outside for training.
Siblings Maddie and Brodie Coombs meanwhile represented Gunnedah at the recent Inverell carnival winning a swag of medals between them.
