IVY O'Brien didn't want a fuss for her 101st birthday this year.
But she certainly wanted to celebrate.
"[My birthday] was the 11th of December and I have been partying all the week," she said with a laugh.
I'm starting on the second hundred now, so I'll be right.Ivy O'Brien
At 101, Ms O-Brien still has a spring in her step and her eyes firmly fixed on the future.
"I'm starting on the second hundred now, so I'll be right," she said.
You can usually find the centenarian at Wests Leagues club where she will be setting the standard on the indoor bowling greens two days a week.
She spoke humbly of her exploits the green before a regular, and much younger, combatant chimed in.
"She's too good," he said.
"We have a triples' competition every year, [last year] she was the runner by one point."
Ms O'Brien was born in Gunnedah in 1918 and lived around the region before moving to Tamworth in the late-1960s.
In terms of a secret to longevity, she kept it pretty simple.
"I never let things get me down, that's the only way to do it ... but they still don't put it over me," she said.
The proof of her evergreen theory is played out on the indoor greens.
"I am still playing skip, so I must be all right," she said.
