Gunnedah High School is looking out for others.
The school's senior council are selling raffle tickets to raise money to buy school equipment for Wytaliba Public School, which was damaged in the deadly Kangawalla fire in November and is now closed.
Its 15 students are attending the nearby Red Range or Glen Innes Public schools until it can be re-opened.
MP Adam Marshall said he had spoken personally to Education Minister Sarah Mitchell, who had confirmed the school would be rebuilt.
The school was one of about 60 properties wrecked or badly damaged by the ferocious fire, which killed two residents in the small community and injured more.
- Raffle tickets are available for $1 each or three for $2.
