Gunnedah PCYC and Gunnedah Show Society are combining their efforts to bring a little cheer to bushfire victims this Christmas.

The society's George Avard "heard on the the grapevine" that PCYC NSW was asking for donations and they have teamed up to provide drop-off points.

Locals are encouraged to drop-off new or good-as-new toys, and any other basic necessities like sheets and towels, to the PCYC or George Avard Rural Property Sales by Thursday, December 19.
After the bushfires ripped through Taree, Mr Avard got in touch with a local builder who had helped Gunnedah in the drought.
"I rang him and said, 'What can we do?'," Mr Avard said.
"The people most affected are the kids ... 300 families have been displaced."
Gunnedah PCYC director Michelle Gosper said it was "really heart-warming" to see communities rally to help others even though they are doing it tough too.
"In times like this, people are doing it so hard but they've still got room to give to other people who are suffering," she said.
