The Gunnedah branch has raised about $20,000 this year, and is currently helping about five to 10 patients a month.
Branch president Kate Knight said money raised through events like the Halloween ball helped patients in whatever way they needed.

"We help them with their finances as far as fuel to go to treatment and sometimes they get help with power bills," Mrs Knight said.
"Whatever auxiliary accounts we can help them with."
The ball was held at the end of October, and saw nine local debutantes strut their stuff in spooky garb.
Locals supported the cause by simply attending or purchasing raffle tickets.
Mrs Knight said Can Assist's funds this year have come from:
- Manning the gate at rugby games
- Seafood raffles and Christmas in July dinner at Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club
- Halloween Ball
- Zombie walk on Conadilly Street
- Barbecue at Harvey Norman Gunnedah, including raffles and donations
The branch will also be at 4Eva Keepsake's twilight Christmas markets on Saturday, December 14 to sell their merchandise - coffee mugs, stubbie holders, and shopping bags - to raise further funds.
