At the time, Gunnedah shire mayor Jamie Chaffey said increased outdoor dining and street trading could "add greatly to a town's atmosphere and appeal".
Over the coming weeks, staff will chat to business owners about how to apply for a fee-free year.
A street trading application fee is usually $168 and a footpath dining application fee is usually $290.
- A paper application will be required but council staff can help with the process. Business owners who want to carry out street vending will need to include a copy of their public liability insurance.
