Strong winds buffeted the region, bringing down tree branches and driving rain fell sideways.
The storm also stirred up clouds of dust, coating houses and cars.

In Gunnedah, 5mm was recorded and parts of Conadilly and Elgin streets lost power for more than an hour in the afternoon.
Farmer Sarah Sulman said Janango near Breeza was "under the right cloud" and about 15-20mm fell on the parched property.
Kelvin farmer Geoff Hood said they only got a few spots of rain but plenty of dust.
The Bureau of Meterology says it will be sunny in Gunnedah on Thursday and Friday and temperatures in the early to mid 30s are expected.
There is a 50 per cent chance of showers on Saturday, and up to 10mm of rain.
On the Liverpool Plains, there is a 60 per cent chance of up to 5mm on Saturday.
