Christmas displays could win locals a prize in the Liverpool Plains Shire, with a competition being run by the Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC).

Residents are being invited to adorn their homes, business premises, and community organisation premises with lights and decorations and enter the 2019 Christmas Lights Competition.
There are four categories: best house, best business, best lights display, and best all-rounder. Each category winner will receive a $50 shop local voucher.

"Get into the festive mood, decorate your house, garden, street or store and bring extra Christmas cheer to the Liverpool Plains Shire," LPSC mayor Andrew Hope said.
"You could win prizes just for spreading a little Christmas cheer. Your display can also provide some great enjoyment when families drive their kids around checking out the displays."
Entry forms can be completed paper free online via Survey Monkey, or locals can pick up an entry form at the council's administration building, Werris Creek and Quirindi Libraries and the visitor information centre at Willow Tree.

Entry is free and closes on Friday, December 6. They will be judged in the following days and the winners will be announced at Christmas on the Plains on Friday, December 13.
