The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has transported a patient from Gunnedah to Tamworth at about 2pm on Monday afternoon.
The 39-year-old was injured in a quad bike collision with a cow whilst herding on a property. He sustained pelvic injuries in the accident.
He has been transferred to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition.
In 2018, 11 people died as a result of a quad bike accident, with 64 per cent of those related to rollovers. The federal government changed quad bike safety laws to make rollover bars mandatory in October.
Under the new laws, all new quad bikes must display a warning label alerting riders to the risk of roll over within 12 month; and within 24 months all new quad bikes must be fitted with an operator protection device (OPD) at the point of sale.
Many people backed this change as being "so important" for quad bike users.
