As usual, Forsyths' staff frocked up in florals and fascinators and St Mary's College had an out-of-uniform day, encouraging students and staff to don their racing best.
At 2pm, the school gathered for a barbecue to raise funds for Catholic Missions, and then held a fashion on the field competition.
Out at Tambar Springs, the newly renovated and reopened pub was a hub for mingling ahead of "the race that stops the nation" took off at 3pm. Vow and Declare topped the lot with jockey Craig Willams.
