Gunnedah Tennis Club players served up some great results at the 2019 NSW Closed Championships held in Sydney on October 26-28.
Five players made finals, playing some amazing tennis along the way, coach Craig Louis said.
Isabelle Moore was victorious in the 14/u girls singles, beating Parri Barrele in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
"Isabelle had set a goal to do well at this event and has been working hard with her strength and conditioning training off court," Louis said.
"We have seen great results with Isabelle's fitness and movement on court which allowed her to get in position and dictate the game on her terms."
Mason Louis teamed up with Guyra's Harry Purvis in the 12/u boys doubles to defeat Ari Ganassin and Thomas Hatcher-Née 7-6, 6-1.
Lucy Gainsford and Shaylee Martin came runner up in the 16/u girls doubles to Tayla Brasier and Abby Kennedy 7-6, 6-4.
Martin played well over the course of the weekend also making it to the quarter finals in the 16/u girls singles.
Amarni Louis and Isabella Purvis combined as a strong team in the 10/u girls doubles knocking out the No.1 seeds in the semi-finals to win through to the final where they were beaten by Ariel Gunawan and Janet Waddell in a nail bitter.
After losing the first set 6-nil, they bounced back to win the second 6-4 before going down 10-5 in the third.
Amarni also came fourth in the 10/u girls singles.
The Gunnedah players will now focus on their training leading up to the North West Championships which will be held in Gunnedah on November 23 and 24.
On the Friday night prior to that (November 22) Casey Dellacqua and Jas Hewitt will be the special guests at a Celebrating Women In Tennis evening at the Gunnedah Town Hall.
