The Australian Electoral Commission's transparency register shows Petrus Van Der Steen, who stood for the Clive Palmer-backed United Australia Party, received a donation for $4500 and spent $4300 of it.
Mr Van Der Steen pulled just over 5900 votes, or 6.29 per cent of the primary vote.
Nationals MP Mark Coulton won the seat convincingly with 50 per cent of the first preference votes.
However it's impossible to tell how much was donated to Mr Coulton, as donations are made to the National Party, which are then distributed it among its candidates.
The Nationals are not obligated to reveal how the money is distributed.
