The former Gunnedah native, who was awarded Alec Evans Medal as the Queensland Premier Rugby player of the year, was voted the 2019 National Rugby Championship Rising Star.
Launched last season, the award recognises emerging players with fewer than three games of Super Rugby or in the case of the Fijians few than three tests.
A standout for Queensland Country this season, Wilson was the Rising Star nominee for Round 5 and polled 21 votes from the 11-person judging panel, which comprised RUGBY.com.au commentators and writers, and representatives from RUPA and Australian rugby fan site Green & Gold Rugby (each of the panel voted on a 3-2-1 basis).
In his second year in the competition the barnstorming number eight finished on top of the season stats for carries (128) and offloads (14) and polled three more votes than Brisbane City backrower Fraser McReight, with Sydney flyhalf Will Harrison third on 10 votes.

Commenting on Wilson, Martin Lippiatt, a RUGBY.com.au NRC commentator, said he "had a huge season in so many ways".
"Averaging 20 four-metre runs a game, usually in close quarters, and he cracked opposition lines beating defenders 20 per cent of the time. He worked tirelessly in the attacking set piece but also averaged 10 tackles a game. His ability to read the game is superb and his silky touches with ball in hand hoodwinks opposition. He played nearly every minute for Queensland Country this year and in light of everything he achieved it's scary to think he is just 20 years old. Watch this space," Lippiatt said.
