In arguably the game of the day, the Roos skipped away late in the second half to get the points 36-20.

The two sides traded tries for much of the game and with just under two minutes to play there was only four points in it.

"We started to tire up through the middle but then we came back at the end and got a few late tries which got us over the line," Davis said.

Davis was one of the Roos' late tryscorers, scooting out of dummy half with a-minute-and-a-half to play.

April Smith, Ashlee Haire, Toni Gale and Cass Morley also bagged four-pointers. Morley was outstanding in the one jersey and finished with a double.

Smith is one a few players who have joined from the Narrabri's women's rugby side and produced a brilliant individual effort for the Roos' second try.

Receiving the kick-off after Rebecca Clay had scored back-to-back tries to put the Robins ahead, she swiveled her way out of a couple of attempted tackles and raced away 80m to score.

Her boot also proved decisive with the Roos converting all six of their tries (Smith kicked five of them) compared to the Robins' none.

Davis said Saturday was a really good start with the concept of tackle league new to a fair few of the side.

"A lot of the players it's their first year so the confidence isn't there but we're getting better," she said.

"It's pretty hard because a lot of us play league tag so it's totally different game compared to tag."

"But it's good for us. We love it."

She did get a bit of a taste last year and was pretty keen to have a run around again.

The Roos' next game will be against fellow first round victors Kootingal-Moonbi on October 26.
