Spooky times are soon to ensue in town when zombies, witches, ghouls and many more creepy creatures come out to play for Halloween.
First up will be Can Assist's mock debutante Halloween Ball on Friday, October 25, which will see nine debutantes frock up for a night of frightful fun.
While the synonymous white debutante gowns will be out in full force, they will be donned by men. Their female partners will then dress up in men's clothes.
Can Assist president Kate Knight said the event was the "major fundraiser" for the organisation.
"It's important to raise funds to help our local cancer patients who are finding things pretty tough when they're having treatment," Mrs Knight said.
"It's also fun for people to come dressed up and be in a relaxed environment."
The event will be held at Gunnedah Town Hall from 7pm-12am, with all proceeds going to Can Assist.
There will also be a prize for the best decorated table, a bar, and musical entertainment by Vanessa Lea.
Tickets can be purchased for $35, and table bookings can be made by calling Kate Knight on 0410 642 004.
Next on the Halloween calendar is the annual Night of the Walking Dead, where ghouls and boys will have their chance to horrify Gunnedah.
This Halloween zombie walk will be held on Saturday, October 26, and will see zombies and other creatures walk Conadilly Street for a good cause.
Gunnedah Shire Council's cultural precinct team leader Lauren Mackley said the event was a joint initiative of Gunnedah Shire Council and Can Assist, with funds going to Gunnedah's Pink Up initiative.
"This spooky walk down Conadilly Street is becoming a tradition in Gunnedah," Ms Mackley said.
"It's really a chance for people of all ages to indulge their dark sides, dress up as something ghoulish and join the fun."
The walk costs a gold coin donation, with proceeds to go to Pink-Up Gunnedah and Can Assist.
Participants will meet at the post office at 6.15pm, with the march to start at 6.30pm and end at the Gunnedah Town Hall with a zombie dance-off disco.
Participants are reminded of the Night of the Walking Dead rules:
- Treat everybody with respect.
- Ensure everybody's safety - if you think it is unsafe, don't do it.
- Listen and follow instructions.
- No touching - no-one wants fake blood or make-up on cars or storefronts.
- Make sure you give all zombies and spectators plenty of space.
- No guns of any kind - Nerf, water pistol or replica rifles - none of them can come along.
- No realistic weapons.
