FARMGATE Auctions' maiden cattle sale is being heralded a success after launching on October 8.

The inaugural sale attracted buyers and sellers from NSW, Queensland and Victoria, and reeled in more than $227,384.44 total sales volume.
As well as a positive sales volume, the sale also recorded an 89 per cent clearance rate.
FarmGate Auctions' director Guy Gallen said he was feeling "over the moon" because of the success of the maiden sale.
"All of the comments we have received from everyone involved with that first auction has been really positive," Mr Gallen said.
"We ended up running with 12 lots to start with and while it has been hard to source stock due to the drought conditions, we were really happy with what we had on offer.
"Despite the drought we had a great cross section of cattle to offer, which is a credit to the vendors to have their livestock in such good condition in trying times."

Mr Gallen said the drought conditions would make hosting regular sales challenging.
"Ideally we would love to begin hosting weekly auctions right away, but with how tough it is at the moment we will have to play it by ear," he said.
"At this stage, we are aiming to host a weekly auction but we will just see how it goes.
"The feedback I regularly received from the first sale was how easy our platform was to use and how clean the live auction process was.
"Everyone was particularly excited that our Lots time out and they can bid, buy and walk away in as little as 40 minutes.
"For us, this first auction was a chance to see our product in action and it was good to see it didn't disappoint."
The long-time Gunnedah stock agent said his main focus was "to build a strong client base in the coming months".
"We have seen that the app works effectively, now it is about building up the numbers," he said.
"It will be tough with the drought, but we're confident we can make it happen."
