It might be spring, but Monday felt like we'd been thrust into the throes of summer - and it will be a totally different story by Saturday.
Gunnedah hit 39 degrees yesterday, according to Weatherzone, but the top temperatures will fall this week until the forecast 20-degree high and thunderstorms on Saturday.

The prediction is for a 90 per cent chance of any rain that day, with a possible 5-10mm; Friday is also listed as a 70 per cent chance, with the same potential fall totals.
Across the wider region on Monday, some of the highest tops were in Tamworth, which hit a maximum of 37.9 degrees, Quirindi at 36 degrees, Moree at 39.5 degrees and Narrabri at 40 degrees.
A severe fire danger rating and a total fire ban remain in place in Gunnedah and the Liverpool Plains fire regions today.
People living in the most at-risk areas have been urged to have a plan in place in case a blaze breaks out.
