More than 40 Roos members made the voyage to see the Sydney Roosters defeat the Canberra Raiders on the big stage, also enjoying a day of racing at Royal Randwick.

The fun didn't stop there, as the group was selected to surround the stage during the event's pre-game entertainment.

Club president Greg Haire said the trip was "a great way to cap off a big year" for the club.

"It's the third time in four years we have made the trip down to Sydney and everyone really enjoys the experience," Haire told the Namoi Valley Independent.

"I think it is a really good chance for us as a club to bond over a good time and reflect on what's been a tough but enjoyable season.

"We might not have enjoyed the success we would have liked on the field this season, but things like this are a great way for us to get together."

The Roos tasted limited success in 2019, winning just two games en route to a seventh-place finish.

However, Haire said he was confident better days lay ahead for the club.

"In a lot of ways, 2019 was a pretty positive year for our club," he said.

"We were able to introduce a reserve-grade side this season and were competitive in all three grades most weeks.

"Being a small town, it is always going to be tough for us to compete, but I think we are in a good position heading into next year."

The Roos will now turn their attention the club's annual general meeting on October 20 before a registration day in early November.

"We're not too sure when we will host the sign-on day," Haire said.

"However, we will post something on our Facebook page once it's confirmed so people should keep tabs on that."
