The Gunnedah Memorial Pool Complex fence behind the Dorothea Mackellar statue will be moved in October.
The fence will be moved back about 2.4m after 10 months of lobbying from the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society, which said it was unattractive, did allow proper access to the statue and was a "descration" of the monument.
President Juliana McArthur said it was "really pleasing" to know the resolution to the ongoing issue was going to be carried out.
"It seems to be happening. I look forward to seeing it moved," she said.
Councillor Owen Hasler led the charge in the August meeting after a presentation from Mrs McArthur, and councillors voted that the left-over pool funding be used to move the fence and re-install a floodlight, which was removed during the pool upgrade.
The surrounds of the statue will also be rehabilitated.
The society said it was not consulted about the fence's location during the pool upgrade
