About 1.5 mega-litres was pumped out of the pool late last week so the leak in the movement joint could be examined and a repair actioned.
Gunnedah Shire Council's general manager Eric Groth said they expected a proposal, including possible solutions, by early next week.
"At this stage our priority is ensuring that the repair work is completed promptly, but most importantly is done properly in the first instance," he said.

Residents in need of water were encouraged to take shuttles to the pool when it was being pumped.
The council said some of the water had been delivered to the Gunnedah Golf Club to fill the dams and was also used for dust suppression, road works and town watering.
The council has been consulting with the contractor Hines Constructions and a third party about repairs, which will be covered under the contractor's defect liability period.
