On Friday, contractor Daracon used a crane to lift a treehouse tower into place and a slide has since been attached to it. A truck has already found its home in Livvi's Place.
Other equipment expected to be installed by the end of October are specially designed swings, a flying fox and a maxi whirler.
Gunnedah Shire Council's chief engineers Dan Noble said softfall and shade structures would be completed in November and all works are on track.
"The playground is coming along really well and already is getting quite a bit of attention from passers-by," he said.
"We're looking forward to having the project finished and ready in time for Christmas."
