The month kicks off with Literacy Week. The library holds materials for people seeking to improve their reading skills, including talking books and printed work sets, books with simplified English, and materials for people learning English.
Adult Learners' Week - getting a library card opens the door to a treasure chest of materials, leading to lifelong learning and enjoyment.
The state library of NSW advises that "students and teachers can find information about the Crime topic in the HSC Legal Studies research guide. This guide provides information about how to find criminal cases, how to find cases about a topic, how to find the case online and how to find media reports about the case. The HSC Legal Studies guide also provides other sources of legal information which can be used to find information about all the Legal Studies topics".
They can also use the EBSCO databases available through Gunnedah library, "for example the Australian and NZ Reference Centre which provides access to the major Australian newspapers - very useful for students looking for current commentary about legal issues and changes to the law."
Students can also register for a NSW State Library card, which will give them access to databases such as Issues in society, ProQuest Australia & New Zealand Newsstream and AGIS Plus (law journals).
New titles added to the collection: Into the fire by Sonia Orchard, a perceptive, provoking story of friendship and intimacy: The poison garden by Alex Marwood: Stranger things; Darkness on the edge of town by Adam Christopher: A junior novel by David Walliams, Fing, is an explosively funny tale.
