Liverpool Plains Shire Council has permanently waived the annual fee for both new and existing outdoor dining applications by adopting the NSW Outdoor Dining Policy.

The council will also develop a 'Local Street Guide' with advice for businesses and to ensure the values and cultural heritage of the shire are maintained.

"LPSC is delighted to ... encourage businesses to provide outdoor dining by removing barriers to entry and consequently increasing community vibrancy and economic growth," LPSC economic development officer Ian George said.

"The policy was developed following consultation with many small businesses and is designed to streamline and simplify the approach for outdoor dining approvals by cutting red tape for them ... resulting in lower costs and compliance burdens on small businesses.

"LPSC is focused on strategies, plans and decision making to strengthen local financial, economic, social and environmental sustainability."

The policy will also mean faster approval time for applications, and fees for businesses seeking to extend their liquor licence boundary have also been waived by Liquor and Gaming NSW.

"To give you some idea how the policy has sped up applications for outdoor dining, all businesses in the pilot program were approved for outdoor dining within two business days of providing all necessary information," Mr George said.

The council, along with seven other NSW councils, participated in the Office of the Small Business Commissioner's Outdoor Dining Trial in 2017. The policy was created from this successful trial which paved the way for the permanent waiving.

In July this year, Gunnedah Shire Council waived its fee for the 2019/2020 financial year.
