If the Red Devils win with a bonus point, they are a chance to host a home semi-final next week; lose and the side's season comes to an abrupt end.
The Red Devils scenario is just one factor in the race for the Central North finals, in which three teams will vie for two available spots in the top four.
Pirates, Narrabri and Moree are alongside Gunnedah in the race for the final two spots, with every side but Narrabri a chance to miss out.

Red Devils second-rower Matt Roseby said one side was "going to be a bit stiff to miss out."
"It's a really exciting final round because anything could happen," Roseby told the Namoi Valley Independent.
"There's so many scenarios that could play out.
"Moree have a pretty big test against Narrabri, while Pirates will have to take on Barraba. It will be really interesting to see who makes it."
Roseby said the side was aiming not to settle for just a win, instead aiming to secure a home semi-final.
"I think we all stand an extra foot taller when we play at home," he said.
"We have only lost one game at home this season, against Narrabri in round one, so we have a pretty good record on our home deck.
"It would be great to get that home final and pay back our fans for all of their support throughout the season.
"After our loss to Pirates a few weeks ago we sat down and discussed treating every game until the end of the season as an elimination final.
"We have done that and not dropped a game since.
"Make no mistake - we are not just out for the win, we are aiming to get a home final."
The Red Devils are expected to welcome back Sanimo Navatu from suspension and winger Bradley Swain for Saturday's clash.
However, Oscar Hunt and James Perrett are expected to miss the vital clash.
"Having Oscar and James out does hurt our backs a little bit, which is not ideal," Roseby said.
"But in saying that, with Nemo [Navatu] and Brad Swain back, we should have a really strong forward pack.
"In fact, it might be the strongest forward pack we have put on the park this season."
Roseby said the side would put a greater emphasis on attack during Saturday's clash.
"We need to score four tries, at least, to earn the bonus point," he said.
"So, we will trust our set pieces, look to win in the middle and hopefully do what we need to do to get a home final."
