Liverpool Plains shire residents are being invited to make suggestions on improving access to public buses and the infrastructure supporting those services.

The state government is offering funding through its Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme (CPTIGS), and Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) is working with the two main operators in the shire, Howard's Bus and Charter and Tamworth Buslines, to identify projects that may be eligible under the scheme.
"The CPTIGS provides subsidies to support the construction or upgrade of bus stop infrastructure and aims to maximise benefits to country passengers," Councillor Hope said.
These include more accessible passenger transport, focusing on better connections between bus stops and surrounding communities, and an increase in the use of passenger transport in country areas through improved awareness of bus stop locations.

Cr Hope said not only was the general community welcome to make suggestions, "schools, local organisations, advocates for the aged, disabled, vision impaired and disadvantaged are encouraged to put ideas forward".
"These ideas can include new shelters, upgrades at boarding areas which can include levelling, connecting footpath, security/lighting, signage, bus stop hard stands, street furniture, and tactile ground surface indicators," he said.
Those wanting to make a suggestion are asked to send their thoughts on to the service that is relevant to the suggestion.

Cr Hope said suggestions need to be submitted by Friday, September 13 to "assist the consultative process to identify the needs within our community".
