Gunnedah's police are urging locals to keep their belongings secured following a spate of recent break ins.
Over the past week, Gunnedah Police Station's officers have seen an increase of breaks in to cars and homes, and are hoping Gunnedah residents will listen to their advice to lock up belongings.
Gunnedah police's Sergeant Terry Melville said he wanted to give locals a "timely reminder to observe simple safety precautions".
"We are stressing, for security, [to keep cars] closed and locked and do not under any circumstances leave [car keys] in a vehicle," Sergeant Melville said.
"Also, don't leave [car keys] in the house in a visible spot through a window."
Sergeant Melville said it was also important to keep windows locked up.
