Community drop-in sessions to discuss the new Gunnedah bridge project and the closure of New Street with Transport for NSW will be held this fortnight.

The sessions are scheduled for Thursday from 3pm-6pm and on Wednesday, August 21 from 9am-11am at the Smithurst Theatre.

Transport for NSW regional director northern Anna Andrews said these sessions were not formal, so residents could come in at anytime.
"The project team will be available at upcoming drop-in sessions to answer questions and receive feedback about how we can help minimise the impact of building activities on the community for this important project," Ms Andrews said.
"As part of building the new Gunnedah bridge, Transport for NSW will need to carry out work on the local road network. This will involve a number of traffic changes and proposed temporary road closures to ensure the safety of workers and motorists."
Transport for NSW said it was aware of community concern regarding the timing of New Street, and that the closure would now be scheduled after AgQuip.
The project team will also be available to speak to at site G26 at AgQuip.
The Roads and Maritime Service postponed the original closure date of August 12 after Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson contacted them and the regional transport minister's office.
A new closure date will be chosen after the RMS and the council meet for discussions.
The road is expected to be closed for up to six months and both local road users and heavy vehicles will be diverted to Conadilly Street.
