Narrabri Shire Council will hold consultation sessions in Boggabri about the Vickery mine extension.
The council is asking community members to nominate session times in September so everyone can participate in a discussion about how much Whitehaven should contribute to Boggabri if the coal mine is approved by the state government.
"The community consultation sessions are key to ensure council understand the lasting tangible economic benefits the Boggabri community require Vickery to deliver," council's development and economic growth acting director Daniel Boyce said.
"The sessions will provide council with the community views that should underpin any voluntary planning agreement that council enter into with Whitehaven Coal."
Expressions of interest will be open until August 21 with dates and times to be confirmed with those who have made submissions so their attendance can be registered.
- Forms are available online at http://www.narrabri.nsw.gov.au/public-exhibition-and-notifications-1014.html or at the Boggabri library on Wee Waa Street.
