The Gunnedah trainer saluted with four-year-old mare Bring The Joy in Saturday's $12,000 Thinkwater Outwest Dubbo Benchmark 58 Handicap (2000m) for her Gunnedah and Tamworth owners.
He has nominated her stablemate, Beale Street, in Friday's $22,000 Cool Blue Ice Benchmark 74 Handicap (1400m) at Tamworth, and believes the gelding will be a good chance.
"I picked this race out for him a while ago," Groth said.
"I will wait and see how he goes in the barrier draw but he has been very consistent. His last start "failure" (fifth at Wellington) was unlucky."
"He got badly squeezed out at the start and went back to second last. Then he had no luck in the straight but still got home. He's a frontrunner too. I thought it was a terrific run considering."
He also thought Bring The Joy redeemed herself at Coonamble after a shocker at Tamworth at her previous start.
He also thought Wendy Peel's ride an outstanding piece of horsemanship and would have liked to have rewarded her for her effort at Tamworth on Friday but needs a stronger, senior rider for Beale Street.
"It was a great ride," Groth said of Bring The Joy's elevation from 1600m to 2000m.
"She pulled up well, was a bit tired after the race on Sunday but she's back to her bouncy best this morning. She'll go around here (at Gunnedah) at the Ag Quip meeting in a few weeks time."
Bring The Joy is raced by breeder David Anderson, Phil Brooks and Dave Neader (all Gunnedah) and Shane Chillingworth, Neil Alderton and Geoff Newling (all Tamworth).
Funnily enough Chillingworth and Anderson used to lock horns in representative cricket, Chillingworth captaining Tamworth and Anderson a key allrounder for Gunnedah.
