Applications are now open for round two of the NSW government's $100 Active Kids vouchers, which can be used from July to December. Round one helped eligible families from January to July.

The vouchers can be used at a number of sport and active recreation facilities, including PCYC centres.

Gunnedah PCYC's OOSH coordinator Faith Moran said the vouchers had already helped a number of families in the shire.

"We've seen a big increase of enrollments since the release of the vouchers," Ms Moran said.

"Some families that enrolled in archery for the first half of the year weren't going to re-enrol until [they received the second voucher].

"Lots of our families would not be able to attend the sporting activities if it weren't for the vouchers."

Activities available at Gunnedah PCYC using the vouchers includes hockey, yoga, and Fun Fitness 4 Littlies.

Liverpool Plains Shire mayor Andrew Hope said regular physical activity was an important part of staying healthy.

"Encouraging kids and teens to be active from a young age sets good habits early on and helps them develop the skills they need to stay active throughout their lives," Cr Hope said.

"I encourage parents, guardians and carers to take advantage of this benefit and to apply."

Eligible students must be residents of NSW aged between four-and-a-half years and 18 years enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary education at TAFE NSW.

Parents can apply for a voucher for each eligible child.
